Designing a calendar app for a conceptual foldable OS
Overview
I led UX and visual design for the native calendar app on FluidOS, a conceptual foldable operating system. The goal was to create a cohesive and responsive experience across both phone and watch views by balancing design system consistency with the unique constraints of smaller screens.

Crafting the phone experience
Designing the phone experience to be fast, readable, and easy to navigate.
For the phone view, I prioritized legibility and simplified navigation while reusing shared components across apps. This balance helped deliver a polished experience despite tight timelines.
Adapting for watch
Reimagining the calendar for the watch by focusing only on what matters.
The watch screen is significantly smaller, so I didn’t just scale down the phone layout. Instead, I rethought the design to highlight key info like upcoming events and quick actions. The monthly calendar was removed and replaced with a simplified list that is easy to scan and navigate.
Improving usability
After user feedback, I increased font size and spacing between events to improve legibility. I also added subtle background highlights behind list items to make touch targets easier to hit.
Final Screens
A calendar app designed for seamless flow between phone and watch views.
The finished app works smoothly on both phone and watch. It feels like one product, but each version fits the device it’s on. The phone has the full schedule, the watch gives you what you need fast.

Outcome and metrics
The final calendar app felt tailored to each screen while staying visually aligned with the OS. The phone view supported detailed planning, while the watch view focused on quick access and glanceable info. The app was ranked 2nd out of 5 by a panel of mobile UX experts, with a 4.5/5 rating for usability and design clarity.
